What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
I feed the wild animals. Which is both figurative and literal. FIGURATIVE: There's a group of fixed-and-then-released super feral cats in my hood and they have some sort of network between themselves and the local possum and raccoon community. They all collectively show up at my house for proper breakfast. LITERAL: I meditate.
When you walk into a bar, what do you typically order?
I order an old-fashioned made with Blinking Owl bourbon, which doesn't exist (yet) so I happily take whatever they make me. I am co-owner of the Blinking Owl, the first ever Orange County craft distillery, located in Santa Ana. We make vodka, gin, and aquavit and eventually several types of whiskey (including bourbon). We open in June of this year but I like to pretend we are already open.
What's the one word you are guilty of using too often?
Honestly it's "sorry," which I want to break. So I am going to say the word "paradigm."
What is the last thing you searched for on Google?
"Do beets turn your pee red?"
Who is the last person who called or texted you?
Aisha Tyler and my cat both texted me at the same time this morning. I text myself and named it with his name because I enjoy getting a text reminder from my cat about a Brené Brown quote regarding authenticity or directions for making almond milk.
What's the wallpaper on your phone and/or computer?
Simon Le Bon done up as David Bowie on my phone and the cover of Rosey Grier's Needlepoint for Men on my computer.
What was the last awkward situation you were in and how did you handle it?
A few nights ago it was my friend's birthday and I was really sleepy and kept falling asleep at the bar where we were celebrating. When caught, I said I was fondly thinking of all the memories I have had with said birthday friend. This is where I should mention I am a terrible liar.
What is your TV guilty pleasure?
RuPaul's Drag Race, Mister Rogers reruns, and Empire. I have zero guilt.
